I ordered a nice Roman coin from vcoins store "Ancient Coin Art" October 22 of 2016. I did not hear anything from them for a week so I emailed an inquiry. S. Theodore responded that he was in Europe and would get his son to look at my order. Since then I have not heard from them. No coin, no emails. Has anyone else been in contact, kind of makes me worry something has happened to them? I never dealt with them before but they have a nice vcoins storefront. John
Corresponding with vCoins has become a lot less fun than in the old days when the management managed. Some dealers are the best I could possibly wish for. Others never reply to inquiries and have to be reminded you paid by Paypal last month. I wish they had a facility so users could flag dealers as non-communicating so we did not have to remember who is a serious source and who has better things to do than customer service. I guess it is our job to keep a list but I really preferred the old way where there was a standard. Come to think of it, that would improve eBay, too.
Yeah, there is an ancient art coins based in Europe that stevex mentioned, and there is an ancient coin art based out of CA, USA. I haven't dealt with ancient coin art (USA), but ancient art coins (Europe) is on my @#$% list. Had to contact them about an item I hadn't received well passed when it should have arrived. THEN they got around to looking into it, and couldn't find the coins I ordered. I'm not so much upset about them not having my item I paid for, as I am about them just not worrying about it or contacting me until I bothered them.
This sounds like a pretty persistent problem based on some of the above comments. Does anyone know if there is a thread devoted to Vcoins sellers that are trustworthy AND have good customer service standards?
This is not an overseas order. They are in California, and their name is "Ancient Coin Art" as I have said. I paid for my order October 22 of this year. That was over 2 months ago. They still have it marked as "paid" but not "shipped". Here is their store: https://www.vcoins.com/en/stores/ancient_coin_art-6/ancient-coins/Default.aspx? They have some nice stuff, but I won't be ordering from them again if they don't get in touch with me soon. Customer feedback would be really nice on vcoins.
I have never had a problem with any vcoins dealer in 10 years. I am not saying I have a problem with Ancient Coin Art but it worries me that they are not responding.
Have you looked at their contact information on Vcoins, they do have a number for their San Rafael Ca office. I'd call them.
chrsmat => sorry to hear that you had a bad time with Ancient Arts Coins ... for I had a good transaction the one time that I ordered from that guy
I have dealt with Ancient Coin Art a few times over the years, both online and in person at a coin show. They had always been prompt and professional, I'm sorry to see that is no longer the case. It does sound like the business has been left in less than capable hands while the owner is overseas - you have way more patience than I would have in dealing with this! Contact Paypal for a refund ... two months is plenty of time to wait.
The phone number they list in vcoins "is not accepting calls at this time" whatever that means. Just FYI.
Now we will see how well the PayPal resolution process works. It is only $180 but I actually want the coin and not my money back...
I have been a bit Vcoins shy since I bought an Irish halfpenny that was some rare date and the seller "lost it" ala eBay trick, did refund my money via the fee method. There are a couple of dealers in ancients on there selling smoothed and cleaned ancients that should be shut down.
I've only used it twice in 13 years and it worked flawlessly. I think you have a pretty easy open and shut case.
