In no particular order Mysia, Kyzikos Ptolemy X or possibly IX Pertinax Carinus, thanks to YOC There are more to come........
Julia Domna Gordian III Valerian I And there are more besides. Wobbly campgates, my Secret Santa Galerius (no picture yet) but that is enough for now, and I haven't counted them.
Lots of great choices! Some I've seen before...and I think I've bid against... I don't know about a favorite of the bunch but I do really like that man-faced bull!
I really like the Drusus bronze. Love the toning on the "Ptolemy X or possibly IX". The Constantine II open doors is also cool. Nice selection for your year.
What a wonderfully cool mix of coins!! Naturally, I love the M-f bull portrait....and I love the reverses of the Gordian and Julia Domna as well as that neat Trajan and Vespasian. Oh hell, I love all of them
My problem is that the coin I am holding at any time is probably one of my favourites. I don't have the budgets of some of you, but that doesn't matter. I am like a kid in a candy store. A wobbly campgate (and I have a few now) gives me as much joy as the MFB. If I ever lose that feeling, it will be time to give up. The coin that Chrismat sent me to clean is one of my favourites. So are the coins that are ex YOC. I could go on and on. I am seriously thinking of approaching one of the local photographers to see if he can give me a "master class" sometime in the new year. In January, I am going to the York Racecourse for my first coin fair if any of the UK people want to meet up.
It is hard to pick for all our groups. I really like the strike on the Trajan reverse. My experience with photographers is that they can shoot what they can shoot and are helpless in other venues. I do macro, nature and kids but am terrible at weddings and portraits. At the moment there are photographers making a living shooting into the light and calling it art. Good luck on your search.
You really have a good eye for the nice coins! I really like the Nero tet and the Julia Domna reverse with the lion quadriga. John
Here is my coin of Homo Neanderthalis............. sorry I meant Ptolemy X. I really need to get a coin of that Ptolemy, I think it was VIII, who sawed his son in half and sent this pieces to his sister/wife. Such a lovely family
Great 2016 coins, Pish. I'm with Doug on the Trajan reverse; it's superb! I also like the Domna, Pertinax and Gela a whole lot.
Fantastic set of coins Pishpash, I especially like your three architectural coins, the Trajan column is excellent with it's column spiral detail and your Gordian 111 arch is another I would like in my collection. Well done congrats on a great year of collecting.
@Pishpash , your collection is EXCELLENT. I would take any and all into mine. Great 2016 for you! Great eye, and I really enjoyed your posting. The Gela MFB is really cool! Well done!
