This is a definite instance where the "Guide Book" helps.

It is pictured there, and this one ain't it.

The one shown (in the Guide Book) has clear separation of the loop of the 9 south, the top bar of the 7, again south, and the 1 with a clear split on the bottom of the digit.

    punt.

I don't think this is a real DDO. It looks like it might have some machine doubling but it sure doens't have the looks of the DDO that the Red Book lists.

Absolutely! 1917 DDO This one went for $25,000.

Is this one? From what I see comparing the pictures, NO. If you are interested, compare the pictures and decide for yourself.

I agree with the consensus. There is something going on with the coin, but it doesn't match the diagnostics with the 1917 DDO that is sought after by collectors. As with some other Lincoln varieties, the 1917 DDO has increased in popularity over the past few years.

Book called Looking Through Lincoln Cents bu Charles D. Daughtrey, second edition has photo of that coin on page 89. This coin can also be seen on his web site called coppercoins.com. Smaller photo in the Red Book.
