    Those plated cents have been showing up around here fairly regularly.

    And it is also possible I could win the megabucks lottery 3 times in a row - but I won't. Considering the last copper 1943 was found 60 years ago, I seriously doubt there will be another found.

    I'm actually really surprised they're not more frequently and convincingly counterfeited. It seems like it would be really easy to make a transfer die from a cheap steelie.

    With all of its flaws in reverse? No go. That being said, counterfeit copper 1943's abound out there. most are crap jut like the common Chinese copy. Some are actually pretty decent.

    If I didn't care about coins per se and just wanted to make a convincing fake 1943 copper cent, I'd base the die off an MS67 cent. It'd probably work better with a steelie than other types of coins, just because the coin itself is also made of steel. And with such a high grade base coin, there might not even be any flaws to speak of.
