Hey, everyone, just tell the spouse that collecting keeps you out of the bars.

Well, it at least cuts down on the time...

To all my fellow bachelors, here's to money, free time, and to be able to do whatever the heck you want!

My biggest fear isnt the lack of life, but finding someone whom I cant live without.

Trust me, it's a lot better than not finding that person.

My husband is glad that I have a hobby. I spend a whole lot of time at work and don't take a lot of time for myself other than coins. I did get him out to the show in Baltimore. He does ask, did you find anything good today? You know the coins are taking up too much space in the office......... and did you sell anything yet, lol. Most times very supportive!

Once in a while, my lady will ask what something cost. If I tell her she always says that coin collectors are sick. I don't argue. She may be right.

Amusement would be a good word to describe my wife's attitude.

My wife was a little irritated when I came home with an 1856 Flying Eagle cent that I paid $7500.00 for. Gee, this was almost 20 years ago now.

I sold it sometime later at a coin show and when I came home, I handed her 10 $100 bills. She asked what this was and I told her it was her share of the profit from that 'penny" she (female dog)ed about.

    Never heard another complaint ever.

Snort. Some of you guys/gals are just too funny. I've been reading many of these out loud to my wife. I asked her for her # on the poll but knew what she would say; unfortunately it was a 3. But on the other hand, if she were as fanatic as I am we'd be spending twice as much on the hobby :nailbiting::nailbiting: .

My wife and I have a deal. I spend X amount on coins, she spends x amount on her stuff. Only fair, and Keeps us both happy. She really has no more than a 2 second, casual interest, when I show her coins or medals though. Which I can understand.;)

I can sum up the relationship my wife and I share where coins are concerned by telling you about one of my favorite purchases. I got an 1806 Draped Bust Half without stem.
When I showed it to her she said, "So, you have proof that over 200 years ago someone in the Federal Government screwed up; good for you."
I can't begin to tell you how much fun that sucks out of owning that coin. Having said that, I must also add that I did not marry her because of her great love of coins. Coins have always been my own private Idaho and only recently have I decided to share my hobby with others. Merry Christmas. James

After she browbeat me into letting her buy a $1,000 ring a few weeks ago, she then urged me to buy a $1,000 coin! Also, she loves to go with me to coin shows because she knows that she can find bargain-priced jewelry there. The dealers tend to sell by the weight of the gold with little attention paid to the precious stones. At one ANA convention, she came up to the table I was sitting in front of and showed me a gold coin bracelet she wanted. Turned out it had a quarter eagle with an incredibly rare counterstamp on it. I was able to sell that and buy her replacement coins with money left over.

I tell her that I hate paper money so I get equal denomination coins instead. She doesn't know about the 'exchange rate'. ;)

That only works until she then borrows and spends your equivalent denomination coins. Like the time my wife washed our laundry using two rolls of silver quarters. Thankfully I was on good terms with the building maintenance guys who handled the machines emptying and was able to exchange back.
