Hi all I wanted to share my final Error Coin acquisition for this year. My final Christmas gift to myself. It's a 1977 Cent struck on a Thin Planchet 2.4 Grams I want to share these webpages with you - http://www.error-ref.com/rolled-thin-planchets/ http://www.error-ref.com/rolling-mill/ Enjoy!
Really interesting! Do you know how common this error may be? They must of had at least one strip worth of cents made. Or caught the misstake before they used all the blanks from the thin sheet? Any of these found in other dates?
@alurid Not to be confused with wrong stock error. Remember this thread? https://www.cointalk.com/threads/1970-d-dime-stock-quarter.286627/#post-2571534
Yea, I had to stop an think about that when I first read your post. Correct metal, Wrong thickness. Other than Wrong metal, Wrong thickness. There are a few different posibilities. Made me wonder if clad stock is all the same just rolled to a different thickness for each denomination. Merry X-mas!
Actually, I think this has a pretty good chance of being struck on dime stock. The Lonesome John chart calculates the weight of a half struck on silver clad stock at 9.16 grams - within tolerance I believe.
