I decided to start some inventory today. Too cold to play golf or fix fences.

First up will be my ASE stuff.

Forget the inventory, I just need to downsize some of my collection.

Me too, and this is a start. I am giving my stuff to my kids, grandkids and great grandkids as birthday and Christmas gifts. You know my "stuff" is much more than coins. But, I need to downsize.

Good idea. From where did you get the checklist form?

I know what you mean. I have a growing collection of unopened shipping packages, full of coins, that still need to be inventoried.

You also have a massive amount of self control :singing:....or else you're nuts :jawdrop:...I'm going with the self control....:D

No doubt. I simply throw them in the safe and forget about them. I do admit I am getting more leery of buying anything with a box anymore, since its much bulkier to store. I actually turned down an offer of some decent denarii because they were slabbed and in a display box. Nice set, but far too bulky for me to want to deal with, but I would feel guilty throwing it away.

I made that decision some time ago (I don't remember when). It is painful to get it all done but so rewarding when you do. You will probably change how you do it several times before you finish. Just speaking from experience.

Wait. What??? You received packages of coins, and didn't open them???? HOW could you not rip that package open as soon as you got it?!?!!!

Good job getting a "Round Tuit"! Inventorying is still on my list. Today, I started cleaning up my office, so I can start inventorying also. Got quite a bit of junk to get rid of (much of it my wife's) before I can have clean enough space to actually work! Good luck!!!

I hear that. I’m selling most of mine in my antique shop, coins or otherwise. Just too much stuff and I can’t take it with me.

I use software to keep track of everything but I let myself get several years behind. Big mistake, It took me several months to catch up. I won't let that happen again.

Inventory?? Oh hell no.. my inventory list consists of my reqistered/slabbed coins and albums... coin by coin inventory would take me years to even attempt lol

Trying to depose @Collecting Nut from the top of the unopened-coin-package registry? ;)

I use excel for my inventory. Took me about six months to log it all. Don't know yet if I will start adding pictures, that would be a full time project to take on. I pretty much did this so there will be a time that my son would know what he inherited. Or I can sell it all myself and buy a nice dinner. ;)

No, no, no...buy a Chick-fil-a sandwich no pickle and a hugely overpriced wine from France!

I will not do an inventory of ALL my coins. I do plan on my sets and commemoratives. The ASE is finished.
