I worked a 12 hour shift yesterday, another scheduled today and I have to work Christmas Day. For those of you that went to the Grocery store already and for those planning to go today please feel my pain. I manage one of those. It is wild!! I planned to wait until Christmas but my day is going to be full. Everyone is waiting until I get off work. I opened my gift last night and was overwhelmed. Santa must have been stalking me. Every item is a perfect fit. But Santa spent was too much, I haven't been that good. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I especial love the Uganda proof set. Silver: Casino token Mexico: 1882 5 Centavos World Coins: 1983 Proof Russia Ruble Mint Set: 1953-1955 Yugoslavia, which I didn't have in my collection. Proof Set: 1966 Uganda. Santa, you are unbelievable! Any one of those would have been enough. Thank you.
I do feel your pain as for 35 year I worked retail grocery business ..... nights, weekends, holidays . ...and now still in the food business . However on the other side of the fence.
One of my favorite scenes in a Christmas movie that isn't Die Hard. I wanted to do this when I was a kid so bad lol. It also gives a brief look at what a Wal-Mart looked like in the 80s...
Well, I am about to head out of town to the land of no internet so I wanted to get this posted up before. My amazing Santa sent me this pr69 dcam Statue of Liberty commemorative! As for finding a place for it in my collection, I am half tempted to crack it out and give it a place in my 7070. But, maybe that wouldn't do it justice. Needless to say I am very grateful for the coin and wonderful card. Thank you again Santa!
Yep, I caved. I had to open the one from my Santa. Thank you @Kentucky for this beautiful Maria Theresa Thaler. I have two of the earlier issues (pre-1850) and have always found them fascinating. Many are under the impression that Austria has been using the same dies to strike these since 1780, but there are countless varieties of this coin and over 150 known sets of dies used to strike these since 1780. The dies used since the 1850s are nearly identical, but it is possible to date them pretty accurately. I haven't gone so far as to look into the date yet, but I will as soon as I find my book. Thank you for your generous and interesting gift Santa Kentucky. Please forgive the image quality, one of these days I will buy an actual camera and stop using my phone.
My package came today and I opened it right away! Thank you very much to my secret santa! The walker has some neat toning!
I thought this pretty cool because my SS had to have done some research on me. An ancient was the last thing I was expecting. Marcus Auerelius RIC 70 Very cool. Thanks SS HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE
I love the 'Northern lights' and have only seen them here in NY twice. Both time were just a single color, this photo is amazing! I have thought about collecting Jefferson nickles for a wile, and now I think I have my jump start. The Standing liberty quarter is the best looking one I have, all my others have come from 'cull' bins. The wait was worth it! Thank you so very much SS!
I am still holding off on SS but my sister sent me a package with a some gifts wrapped and some gifts unwrapped. Imagine my shock when one of the unwrapped things was a baggie of coins, tokens, and a button. In with the coins was an 1889 O morgan, a 1934 and a 1964 quarter, a 1941 dime, a 1925 standing liberty quarter among others! I will have to take pics soon.
I love those Mexican 5 Peso's from 1947 and 1948. To me they rank right up there with a Morgan Dollar. Such a cool big chunk of silver with a gorgeous design.
Well, nothing in the mailbox today. My apartment office will be closed until Tuesday, so if it arrives on Monday, I won't know until Tuesday. I'm just glad some of you guys are finally opening those gifts and photographing them. It sure makes it exciting to read this thread. Keep them coming!!
I've seen them never, but judging by your local, you have a much better chance at viewing them. Nice gift, and Merry Christmas old friend..........in fact, Merry Christmas to all of my brothers and sisters. This has truly been wonderful indeed. Tomorrow I'll open my gift. I'm sure I'll love and cherish it for the fact that it came from a brother or sister collector on this site. Can hardly wait........
