Hello everyone, Happy New Year to all! Yesterday I went out Metal Detecting for the first time in 2025. It was great weather so I took advantage and went to Hunter Island with 2 of my friends. They didn't find anything spectacular but I did. No silver though. Here are my finds Medal - France - Vernier 1916 Verdun ON NE PASSE PAS Vintage Lock 4 Wheat Cents Neat clip with fancy leaves 3 Buttons 1950's NYC Transportation Token Everything - about 24 cents US Coins 1 Canada 1 Cent and Miscellaneous Metals Bullet - Buckle
Like you said, no silver but what you did find is better than silver. I think silver may be in your next outing.
Good start to the year. I remember the "cool" kids of which I was not one, putting those subway tokens into the slot on the top of their penny loafers.
It's not really an island. It's a peninsula in an area of the Northeast Bronx. We find old foundations, wells and cooking pits. There are many deer, foxes and owls in that location. Here is some great information https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunter_Island_(Bronx)
That over near orchard beach/san souchi? Had a Navy friend (Chuck Collins) from the area.. we used to drive up there for long weekends in the summer
Yes. We park at the Orchard Beach parking lot. Hunter Island is to the left with 2 or 3 entrances with paths to get in. The yellow arrow is pointing to the Hunter Island Peninsula
They need to get you out on the set of the series "Curse of Oak Island". Maybe, after a decade of abysmal failure, you'll find some treasure there.
