Is this a Large cent 1826/5?

Can somebody confirm that this is the actual 1826/5 variety? I have read that you can see the difference from the 1826 normal date by looking at the spacing between the date numerals and also excess metal by the 13th star. Also that you can't really see the overdate unless you have a high grade specimen.

Does that mean that the valuation of 1826/5 is the same as the normal 1826?

And how about this coin? Normal date or overdate and how about valuation? The photos are not great and I have adjusted the light.

    Thanks for any inputs!

It does look like the N-8 to me, but wait for an expert.

    Mark is correct, N-8.

The fact that the overdate isn't visible does not change the die marriage. It is still an 1826/5 and worth more than an 1826 plain.

Maybe VG10 and $80 if it graded problem-free.

BTW, for the future, it helps the attribution effort if you orient the coin properly before shooting pix. Or use an editor to rotate the images.

Thanks for your hjelp, Lance! Yeah, those photos weren't the best and directly from the seller.

I think it's hard to see the excess metal by star 13, but id's on date (spacing of 1 8 26) and direction of star 6 I can see now.

I said yes to a $65 offer on the coin so on its way to the collection...

    Happy new year!
