A firm 6. She does find the odd denominations such as the 2 cent, 3 cent, and 20 cent coins interesting but not much else.

Mine is in the 7 to 8 range. Very happy that I'm collecting in my retirement. She enjoys finding out a bit of history behind the coins.

My wife is supportive of my hobby. She often shows interest in different coins, she's probably just feigning that interest sometimes but at least she puts in the effort. She does enjoy roll searching with our kids and filling albums with pocket change finds though so in a small way she has taken up part of the hobby on her own.

My wife doesn't really fit any of those types. She was a coin collector way before me but quit when she went to college. Every time I show her a deal I picked up she says "sell it". She occasionally picks me up a nice coin as a present like the 2009 UHR :D . I show her new coins I picked up like the AU British Trade dollar and she is like meh. So I guess she doesn't really have an interest and she would sell most of it if given the chance. She didn't flinch when I went out and spent over $300 last weekend at a local auction. As long as she doesn't sell them and doesn't say stop, I guess I am good. :)

My wife will say the right things when I show her a coin but doesn't really get collecting in general. She'd rather save the money. At least she's tolerant of it and doesn't really complain though.

She is in the 6 range on coins, but probably in the 8 to 10 range on paper currency. My kids all enjoy looking at what I have and always ask what's new since last time. She enjoys the show and tell that I have with them, but kinda gets a deer in the headlights look when it's just she and I. I buy her things that she likes once in a while just to keep peace, she's into carnival glass, but all I have ever heard her say was that she was glad that I have something that I enjoy. I used most of my play money for the last couple months, buying material to build the grown kids furniture for Christmas presents. She asked today how much had I spent on them, I said too much, but in my heart it wasn't enough. Only time she has ever asked how much I've spent on anything.

My fiancé thinks it's cute because I've been collecting since I was a kid and even gave me some of the world coins she had in her travel wallet... sweet! I think she might even be planning on getting me a coin for Christmas this year! Definitely a keeper! I'll report back if I indeed do get a coin.

    BTW... happy holidays everyone!

My wife totally appreciates the my interest in coins... much like her interest in cooking and wine. One of my Christmas gifts from her are tickets for two on a 5-day get-away from Maryland to Florida for the FUN show.
    She's a helluva woman...

My wife enjoys the hobby but certainly not to my level. She has a great eye for bling like appeal coins and likes SLQs. SHe also makes sure we stay within the budget.

My wife has interest in my collection.
Wife: "How much was that coin?"
Me: "Uh, not much, honey." Wrong answer.

She really hates seeing those white mint bags.
Wife: "What are you going to do with all those quarters?"
Me: "Uh, keep them?" Wrong answer.

She watches me like a hawk when I go to the mailbox.
Wife: "Let me guess, another coin."
Me: "Would you like to go out to eat?" Wrong answer.

She is always over my shoulder when I am on the internet.
Wife: "Are you buying more coins?"
Me: "No. Just doing some research." Wrong answer.

It is really hard for me to tell if she supports me collecting coins or not. After 33 years of wedded bliss I still do not know what that head shaking means.

Fifteen years ago my wife was around a 5 or 6. She did go to a few shows with me and would occasionally buy me a coin as a Christmas or Birthday gift.

    But...

When it came time for a divorce she was even more interested than me in all my (OUR) coins, Community Property you know!!

My wife of 34 years thinks it's great I have a hobby. Her father was a collector, so she understands fully. He gave her many coins over the years, so she has a nice collection herself. Some I would like to have, but I dont ask because of sentimental values. She bought me the one and only slabbed coin that I have, 1903 Morgan. She did a good job with it. No compliants here.
