Sorry to hear that this happened to you and hope you get them all back. I am with the others posting above in believing someone must have known the coins were in your truck. I am sure the police can help figure it out. Good luck! TC
I'm confused on what anyone would be watching? I walk out to my truck with my regular generic laptop bag that just so happens to be holding a PC GS box as well that day. Absolutely nothing out of the ordinary or visible. I drive to my buddys store, ask for him by name not by subject, discover he is off on that particular day, and return to my vehicle. They never entered the store. At that point they never left my truck and no one ever knew about them. I never told anyone what I was doing. I simply set them under my seat compartment because I didn't want them in my work bag while I was in the office. It's hard for me to believe someone was watching all of that and just happened to read my mind. I think it's more likely people are desperate during the holidays and taking advantage of everything that they can take advantage of when they see an opportunity like that. 100% happenstance
I didn't really cry over the loss either. I knew I messed up. I also knew that these coins weren't very common either and that I had them all photographed and graded.
I think it's more likely people are desperate during the holidays and taking advantage of everything that they can take advantage of when they see an opportunity like that. 100% happenstance Trey I am sure that is all it was.I can tell you every year at this time the thieves are thick as mud theft at my place of work is up 50-100% over normal "tis the season"
Yes I did, it was a firm Ive done a bit of business with over the last 5 years or so. They are cooperating fully! Can you say customer loyalty after THAT!
I know thats what it is as well. I know my people/friends/associates/neighbors and I also am aware of the circumstances. Random act of petty theft turned into a jackpot for this person. Its all good, this was just a life lesson on how to properly pay attention at all times. Even the days when I dont feel the best, I need to be more cognizant and on my toes.
All very strange. Glad that the dealer is cooperating with you and sincerely hope the thief has his next Thanksgiving dinner in the penitentiary.
Glad this ended happily for you, but I am wondering: is there any type of business insurance that covers this situation for the dealer who unknowingly bought the stolen coins? I would think this is a big enough loss (especially at the holidays) that a small dealer would really feel it.
Yeah Trey lost a set of custom clubs once out of the back of my car had been at work no more than an hour.I filed the report they showed up at a pawn shop within 24 hrs and I had such a good description they were returned within the next 24hrs.The Pawn Shop took the hit.
I have the ANA insurance policy. I believe there is an option that gives you coverage when you are transporting your coins.
If this was in response to my question, I was more thinking of the dealer who innocently and unknowingly bought stolen coins.
Maybe I'm too jaded, but it's difficult to imagine total innocence on the part of the party who fenced (call it what it is) these coins. He's being cooperative because he's liable, and subject to a criminal penalty as serious as the thief's if convicted.
No, it wasn't. I was just remembering the options for the ANA coverage. As far as a dealer goes, I'm not sure an errors and omissions policy would cover what you mention.
Or the hospital. I just wished i woudlve caught them red handed. The dealer is completely innocent and had no way of knowing these were stolen. Everyone is cooperating amicably at this point. Just a process to make everyone whole again.
