A friend of mine just dug this in a cow pasture in the neighboring county.

It’s rough, but it’s plainly a Nova Constellatio! You can see the eye in the center of the design.

While not a big money coin, that's got to feel some kind of rewarding!

Yeah, even though it’s gonna have a pretty modest monetary value in that condition, it’s a real “wow!” find. For the history alone.

And it makes you wonder what else might be in that pasture! I’d have visions of 1792 half dismes in my head!

That might not be likely, but it’s possible. I do know of one being found, some years back. Not around here, but still. You should see some of the other stuff this guy has dug. I almost wouldn’t believe some of it, except I’ve seen him in action, and been there when he’s dug other 1700s coins.

One of these days, this fella is gonna pop a Chain cent. You mark my words…

Same fella dug this one ‘round these parts a few years back. Sometimes in the well-drained, sandier soils here, the copper comes out nice.

Yep, though I’ve not heard of too many of those being dug down this far South.

If I'm correct, the coin was minted in Birmingham, England.
Then finds its way to America. Eventually, I'm guessing, to
S.E. Georgia. THAT would be an interesting story to read.

Indeed. Then a long sleep for 200+ years in a cow pasture. And back up into the light again.
