I think anymore a regular 1880-o MS 64 go for around $1200 give or take. What if it is a VAM-6a, with the obverse partially covered in dark red toning, and in a very early NGC holder? How much premium?
I don't know off-hand but I know I can figure it out. You have to begin with the basic price, $1200. Then, add the premium for the VAM-6a, which is typically 25%, or $300, bringing the price up to $1500. Then, subtract 33% for the dark red, partially-covered obverse, or $400, bringing the price down to $1100. Then, add $100 for the old NGC holder, which is the going rate on those, bringing the price back up to $1200. All this is conditioned on the toning being NT. If it's QT, or worse yet, AT, fuhgeddaboudit, it's not even entitled to a grade.
