Hi there, I've come across this Bytantine Roman coin I've searched but can't identify. Any opinion or advice would be great Thanks in advance
This is not Byzantne or a coin of any type in my experience. The legend CONOB is only appropriate for a gold coin but this looks like brass. Fantasy strikes me as the correct answer.
Welcome @Nicola !!! Hopefully, this 'fantasy piece' will not discourage you from staying with us in the future.
Where did you get that, @Nicola, eBay? Let's at least get her money back, guys. We should at least out the seller, so it doesn't happen again. And again, and again...
We can "out" the seller, but I would suggest @Nicola try to obtain a refund if it's not been too long since the purchase.
Welcome to CoinTalk! If you want some genuine Roman or Byzantine coins go to vcoins.com. All dealers there must offer a lifetime guarantee of authenticity. There are many nice coins for $25 and of course many for more money. I would avoid ebay until you have some experience in identifying ancient coins. John
Awww, that sucks ... I hate when one of us gets burned => welcome, Nicola ... it's always nice to see a young pretty face on this site (I get kinda tired of only seeing doug's ol' mug!!)
