Hi all. Neither me nor my son appreciate folks talking about buying and selling drugs in this thread...I'm hoping it will be removed ASAP. Thanks.

    Ruben:

    With all due respect...

I am as sympathetic as the next guy, but first off, if there was an easy way to make 10x your money in 6 weeks everyone would be doing it (and would probably be a millionaire, so if you know any millionaires, ask them), and second, if one did know how, I don't think it would be any of us. Most of us are small time collectors, not investors.

You're asking for a golden goose so to speak. Easy money, and to be truthful there's no such thing. Making 10% profit on an investment in ANY time frame is an excellent return and many would be more than happy to do so, but a 1000% profit??? in 6 weeks??? You need a serious reality check Ruben! Good luck!

    Hi Reuben,

I'll assume you're serious and not being sarcastic.

Some of us made a nice percentage gain this past year on the 2006W eagles and anniversary sets. I don't know of anyone that bagged 1000%. Besides, these two silver issues were freaks. Most years, about the best you can hope for from the mint, if you're lucky, is one, or maybe two 300% gainers.

That said, I can see 2 possibilities at this point that might produce a gain although nothing like 1000%. The Jeff spouse coin and the Little Rock commem (if the mintage and sales are still as low as they've been). The problem with the Little Rock is that their sales are low because no one is interested and you need interest to spike a price.

Now the Jeff spouse might be 1 - interesting and desirable and 2 - might not have the mintage as the first two spousal coins. That said, betting on the mints sales and production numbers is just that - a bet.

Sorry, but I don't see any 1000% gainers out there - wish I did.

    good luck,

    rono

It could be done easily enough...but not with just $1000 investment. Like Mike said, if it were that easy with so little capitol, we'd all be rolling in cash. I think you'd need to have an initial investment of around 100k-300k in order to achieve such returns, and probably hire a few experts on rare coins and auctioning just to be on the safe side.

But, no matter, I wish you luck in trying.

Hopefully you do realize that Ruben is a pharmacist and as such he actually does make his living buying and selling drugs - all quite legally.

That is not the context that it is written in. My son brought it to my attention....

Gimme a break, we were all just kidding.
No one here is advocating breaking the law.

Anymore than half of the sellers on eBay do with their Chinese counterfeits.

Ha! Thanks for the clarification. I'll add that prescription drugs are one of America's greatest ripoffs.
They charge $1 or $2 each for pills costing 2 cents to make.

Way back in High School I worked in Drug store. sometimes I would do the inventory when the drugs came in and remember the price of like 1000 darvon cp 65 was 15.00. the first rx of like 50 pills from the bottle would pay for the 1000 caps That was in 1969 but i'm sure they still make big bucks:eek:  :rolling:

They were just kidding about the drugs. Don't get so uptight OK. I haven't read anything in this thread that I would consider so inappropriate as to scar a child for life that might read it. Take a valium and relax will you?
