I found this the other day but I have no clue what it is. It looks like 2 blobs of metal on both ends of Monticello in pretty much the same areas. The one on the right is more pronounced than the left. Bear in mind, all I have is a 30x loupe so I might be wrong about them being raised. Anybody know what this could be?
Judging by the coin itself, it looks like it was minted by a worn die, especially on the reverse. If I’m correct then I would think they are both raised and were caused by a die crack.
Ok. I just thought it was odd that they're both in the same spots on both ends of Monticello. I've never encountered something like that. Is it worth putting it in a 2x2? It reminds me of a post I put on here a while back. I found a bunch of new (I think 2022) cents with 2 little chips on the lower part of the shield with a crack connecting them. I thought they were kinda neat so I put them in a tube.
Okay. Appreciate the input. I guess what threw me off was the placement on the exact spots on each end of Monticello. Heck of a coincidence.
