What kind of error is that?

    It looks like zinc rot to me.

    It means that the zinc underneath the copper plating it rotten and corroded. It isnt an error it is just damage. Post mint damage. The coin is ruined.

    From 1982 until all current, Cents are Copper Plated Zinc planchets.
    As stated before, The elements react with the zinc underneath and the zinc rots away :yack:

    looks like a parking lot find that got munched up and rained out with the sun heat.
