The lesson from the Hunts was to buy physical silver and pay cash. They got into trouble using leverage in the futures market when the feds changed the rules on them. So, yes. The Hunt brothers did teach me something.
Nice choices Hontonai - you seem to share almost the same interest as I do except I don't actively collect US coins. I actually was drooling over the Korean 1892 proof set with it's original box (yes it does exist) with a proof 5 yang - you can't imagine how rare that set is. I would love to own the whole Korean gold coin set, 5, 10 and 20 won as well as the Korean-Russian coinage - I can only imagine how crazy hard it would be. Some examples off from Hwadong: http://www.hwadong.com/goods/2006/0630/1000141592.jpg http://www.hwadong.com/goods/2006/0712/1000147322.jpg (I was trying to look for the 1892 proof set - it was on that site but I can't find it now) I recently got myself a 1888 10 mun and you can only imagine how difficult it was to obtain one! I have yet to own any baked clay coins - always tempted to get one but when I try to, someone always buy one beforehand! :computer:
Found the picture hontonai http://www.hwadong.com/goods/2006/0726/1000152242.jpg Isn't that a winner set? I don't even know if Japan even had such proof set minted for their own country during Meiji era.
i'm working on my dream collection... full XF set from Khorezm Peoples Soviet Republic. 11 coins total. the remaining would be of each in MS67+; Standing Liberty quarter, Walking Liberty half, and Mercury dime. -steve
