Not as crazygood a day as yesterday, but still not bad. 26 pre-60 nickels including a 1930 Buffalo, 6 2009-Ds and 1 2009-P Jefferson in 95 rolls, and 19 wheats in 78 rolls of cents including a hole-filler 1929-S. Tomorrow I get to scavenge for higher denomination stuff. 30buff09P 29s cent.jpg

Yeah, the dry spells can be totally lame. I had a skunk streak of 16 boxes of halves in a row once. Caused me to quit for two months this year. Now, if I get a series of skunks I just get more boxes per week to get through it. That does mean driving more but it's a total numbers game when you boil it down. The more you go through the more finds you will get obviously. When I first started I only did a box a week which would make skunk streaks a lot longer. Now I do 5-8 boxes a week and that helps a lot.

$5.50 loose plus 1, $10 CWR halves from a bank on my way home tonight yielded zilch

For the time being, I'm out of banks in my area to check for loose and rolled halves :(

I'll be traveling out of state for the holidays, so I'm trying to roundup some boxes of halves to look through while I'm there.

I'll be traveling for the holidays too. San Diego. My girlfriend and I will be hunting, hoping there are coin machines there.

Did not roll search, but asked a teller at the local bank this week, if she had anything, that was unusual, and pulled out a 1964 Kennedy half about UNC, = $.50 exchange. :)-D)

Had a fun day yesterday... did my first halves (29 rolls) in a few weeks and pulled 1 40%-er and 2 NIFCs... found 3 pre-40 wheats (15 total) including a hole filler 1930 in $33 worth, and 3 War Nickels including only my 3rd 1945-D among 33 pre-60s in 81 rolls of them... Also did 850 dimes and 800 quarters and got skunked as per usual. 67half 30 cent 121416.jpg 43s44p45d 121416.jpg

Indeed! I also got 5 in 121 rolls on Monday, but none in 95 rolls Tuesday (though I did find a 1930 Buffalo). 8 in 287 rolls is almost twice my normal average.

$71 in a mix of CWR and loose halves from a bank off my normal driving route home from work tonight yielded nothing. Half the rolls were marked on the outside by a local CRHer whose marks I've been seeing at various banks the last several months, so I guessed those rolls would be a dud.

Teller said the bank has $650 more in halves if I want them, but I'm not interested given it's likely the other hunter's dump...not worth my trouble.

picked up 3 boxes of nickels today. first box yielded a 1937 buff and 2 war nickels and 26 pre 1960s. Box 2 yielded 23 pre 1960s. Box 3 yielded a whopping 193 pre 1960s! this included a 1938S, a near UNC 1948S, and a 1942D. about half of the box consisted of 1960-1964, I assume someone collected them thinking they were silver then when they found out theyesterday weren't silver they dumped them all. the pic is of the 3rd box finds. Stopped by two of my pick up locations yesterday, hoping to have a bit of coin on hand to search in the event the weather here in the mid-Atlantic kept me inside today.

    $25 BWR Cents - Solid 2016-P. That's the 3rd box in a row. :dead:

    $5.50 loose halves - Skunk

Now I have $40 CWR nickels and $50 CWR dimes still left in the pile to look through. Hoping the warm temps come on fast this morning so I can get out and do the last of the Christmas shopping (and see if any of my other pick up spots are open for business).

Boxes 3-5 of halves were all skunks. With the snow and weather I can't dump today, so that will delay my whole routine for next week. I'll be out of town the following week so this will be a crappy month silver wise for me.

My bank is having a tough time getting my halves for me... had to resort to my secondary a few times this month.

My 3rd bank never has anything good... looking to open a 4th account...

Thanks! The 87 is about the 10th I've found. For some reason, they seem to be plentiful around here.

Thought I would do a few rolls of dimes. I have done it before and my eyes just aren't what they use to be, so thought I would give it a go until my half boxes come in this week. I have found Goldie halves before but I have never seen Goldie Dimes. Anyone else every see them?
Interesting the edges were also smooth.
Actually almost had an attack thinking someone dumped 1/10 ounce gold AME or some other gold fractional bullion.

WOW! 193 pre-60s is crazy! Congrats!

This reminds me of my LOOMIS boxes over the summer. I got 170 pre-60s out of a partial LOOMIS box of 44 rolls and they included a 1938-D Jefferson, a 1942-D and a 1936-D and a Dateless Buffalo (later found it was a 1920)... Got another LOOMIS box and it had "only" 37 pre-60s, but included the 2 coins in my avatar - an AU 1939-D, and an XF 1938-S, along with a 1937 Buffalo. Like with your box, there were no War Nickels among the 207 pre-60s I found.

So was box 3 a LOOMIS box, or String&Son? I see both types of rolls there. I'd go to whatever bank you got that box at and see if they have more.
