Very cool! On the "upside down", which way is the reverse? In other words, is the reverse aligned with the black portrait plate or with the serial number and seals plates? I don't know enough about them to know if it makes a difference--just curious.
Nice error notes. It’s unfortunate they weren’t discovered before they circulated as much as they did.
The back is printed first. Without seeing the back side it difficult to say what is upside down. Something is, but what? Both are very nice despite the circulation wear which lowers the grade and the value. The mismatched serial numbers is the more valued one.
My question exactly. My guess is the portrait plate is properly aligned, but after that the sheet was somehow turned around and made it through two more printings and final inspection without being detected, which requires several people letting it slip by. But the alternative seems less likely, that the sheet was turned, misprinted, then "corrected" for the final two prints. Either way, there should be several more out there.
I have several notes at the TPG now. One is mismatched serial numbers. The other is upside down printing.
Still waiting to see the back of the upside down note. And it needs to be in a photo showing the front s as nd back at the same time. Compare it to a regular one dollar bill.
