I found these a few years ago when I bought a bag of unsearched pennies from a coin shop. I went back and told the guy what I found, he wasn't too happy.. ..there were a bunch of 1909s and some cool key dates in there too. It was a good haul. What kind of error is the 1954 filled date called ? penny
No. Cuds are just breaks anywhere in the die. Chips are when a raised piece of the die used to impress into the coin had chipped off and is no longer there to do that. That's why that "9" is filled in.
