I'm a Walker collector, but have just recently become intrigued with CSA notes. I want to do due diligence before I proceed, do any of you collect and what tips can you give me. Thanks.

Knowledgeable sellers is a good start, as with coins, there are a lot of copies out there. There are even contemporary counterfeits printed by the Yankees to try and collapse the Confederate economy. There are several good books out that are very good resources.

Thanks Hommer...good books like Fricke? I am absolutely mesmerized by the story of Lucy Pickens...and with the fall from grace of the Confederate flag, I would think this may have a positive effect on value.

Yes, this one. If I remember correctly, I bought this one for somewhere between $25~$35 from the author at a show. He was going to autograph it but was extremely busy and I was starving, so didn't wait around for that, good book. 20161217_095134.jpg

The so called "Havana" counterfeits and the Sam Upham notes with the Upham imprint are very collectable. In some cases because of the history they can be worth more than the originals.

I suggest you buy Freidberg's "Paper Money of the United States." Color pictures of every rebel note, plus a lot more. If you want to acquire another bad habit, pick up Professor Ball's book on CSA bonds.

Brother Fish, I feel your pain. Accumulated 50 or so CSA bonds. The only ones that allow me to make nice profits are the trans-Mississippis and the 1864 Equestrians with all coupons attached. The latter are wonderful for framing.
