This “coworker holiday envelope” thing has been a tradition of mine at work for the past three or four years. I’m the night auditor at an 85-room boutique hotel that has a staff of just over 20 people. This year those who got a coin gift got Standing Liberty quarters (though I ran short, so Niles the bartender got an ancient Byzantine follis I’d gotten from @Randy Abercrombie.) Not everyone got a coin, but every employee in the hotel got a letter, a Hershey bar, and a $2 lottery scratchoff ticket. A dozen people with whom I have regular interactions also got the coin gift as well.

Yes, I made sure they were all full-date coins. Most were 1927 and 1930, though I did see a 1925 and a 1929. Funny, I was so absorbed in the task of creating those envelopes that I forgot to examine those SLQs for mintmarks. I’m sure the dealer who sold them to me did, of course.
I think I might “go ancient” next year, and do Widow’s Mites or late Roman bronzes. That might give a little thrill to some of the more perceptive coworkers who might be interested in Biblical stuff or history- even if they aren’t potential coin collectors. And for the rest who don’t care about that kind of stuff, well, they’ll still have a Hershey bar and a lottery ticket.
