    AR denarius, Julia Domna 193-217, Rome. Obv. Bust to the right, hair with tiny bun. IVLIA PIA FELIX. Rev. Luna, cloak billowing around her head, in biga drawn by horses on ground line, to the left, LVNA LVCIFERA. 18 mm, 2.85 gr. RIC IV 379c (Caracalla). Ex-Tom Cederlind.

    AE follis, Maximinus II Daia 307-311, Alexandria. Obv. Head to the right, IMP C GAL VAL MAXIMINVS P F AVG. Rev. Genius standing facing, head left, modius on head, naked but for chlamys across left shoulder, liquors flowing from patera in right hand, cornucopiae in left. K in left field, gamma / P in right field. ALE in exergue. 25,5 mm, 6.61 gr. RIC VI, 105c. Ex-Tom Cederlind.

    AR drachme, Kidara, ca. 400. Unknown king. Obv. Frontal bust with a crown studded with leaves and topped by a poppy seed head on a crescent (!). Balls of hair at the sides of the head. Broad ribbons rise from the shoulders of the king. No text. Rev. Fire Altar with one bystander, left - at the right a large vase or bowl with branches in it. Under the altar a text: ‘pylwc’ (Pfisterer) or ‘Jadana’ (Vondrovec). 29.5 mm, 4.00 gr. Göbl Hunnen 15 (= Vondrovec 15 A). Pfisterer 15. Vondrovec I p. 32 Type 15 (not 15 A).

    It was a difficult choice, 2016 was a good coin year. (The list is chronological, Part 2 will follow soon)

    I really like these coins. This is why I recently ventured into Sassanian coins... very nice examples! Your tow Romans are very nice!

    The Kidara is also my favorite from this group - the front-facing bust is tremendous!

    Yes, obviously, I'm very happy with the Kidara drachm. But I'm happy that thanks to CoinTalk I have discovered Tom Cederlind as a name that leads me to (Roman) coins I really love to have. Today I missed a few at the CNG auction. Possibly one of you bought that beautiful Macrinus...

    ... but Pellinore, I think the coolest example you have in this set is the sweet strong-jawed Maximinus II (very cool lookin' coin)

    Congrats again on a fantastic coin-year!!
