I missed out on the fun of joining any local clubs. Wish I had.

I'm the secretary/treasurer of my local coin club. We meet in the local coin shop owned by the club president.

We don't do auctions but we have a door prize and an attendance prize at every meeting. Door prize is usually a Silver Eagle or equivalent. It is a drawing for meeting attendees. Attendance prize is a cash drawing. If the name drawn isn't there then the pot goes up $5 for the next month maxes out at $50. If someone wins it goes down to 20 for the next month.

We have a business meeting where I give the secretary and treasurers report. We discuss things like the annual coin show we put on every year. Then we have the education portion of the meeting which is usually numismatic or hobby related. Sometimes it's not. Like if I had traveled recently I'll give a presentation on it. I've done presentations on Hawaii, Greece and Scandinavia. One club member who has passed away was a conspiracy theorist once gave presentation on conspiracy theories from the 2020 election to why the Oklahoma City bombing was an inside job by the federal government. Personally I felt that a coin club meeting wasn't the proper venue for that but him and the coin club president were such good friends that the club president even gave the eulogy at his funeral. OTOH the conspiracy theorist did give nice presentations on baseball cards and even brought some valuable cards such as Mickey Mantle and Nolan Ryan to show.

At the end of the meeting we have pizza and pop.
