You guys know I love to do Jefferson Nickel guess the grade threads, this time I am doing it a little different. I am going to post 10 photos of just the steps and I want everyone to vote for the coins that they think HAVE FS (Full Steps). And by FS, I am using the PCGS standard of 5 Full Steps. Once everyone has voted, I will do an individual GTG thread for each coin and link them to this thread.

    1) 1938-D

    2) 1939-D R38

    3) 1941-D

    4) 1942-P

    5) 1943-P

    6) 1943-S #1

    7) 1943-S #2

    8) 1945-P

    9) 1982-P

    10) 1983-D

Now remember, you are voting for all of the coins that you think HAVE FS. You can vote for as many coins as you want, and each vote signifies that you think the coin has full steps.

Have fun guys, and as always, comments welcome!

I think the first two photos are of the same coin.

I didn't look that close. I was thinking that the 39D was a rev of 38'

Good poll. I always find these hard without coin in hand due to limits of photography, meaning light can wash out what is there potentially. I voted for 4 of them, #3,5,7,and 10.

I would really like to get to 20 responders before we start the individual GTG threads. If anyone knows a current Cointalk member who is interested in Jefferson Nickels, feel free to tag them.

I think a large number of them meet 5 FS criteria. I think #3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 all do. I think #1 is close at 5-5-4-5. I think #2 doesn't get there due to the steps under the third pilar being pretty wiped out. #6 is also close but I would call it a 5-4-4-5 if I'm being super picky.

I would not be surprised if PCGS gave it to all of them except #2.

I only voted #3, but I know little to nothing about Jeffersons. The comment about lighting is probably very true. Shadows play tricks on the eyes.

Now I said we were using PCGS standards, but I never said they were all graded by PCGS.

That was my next question. I pulled out a few Jeffersons I had stashed in the bottom and back of a cabinet, They are some 2016 grades from a Nickel Dealer.
I will wait until you are done with your thread. I am looking forward to the Grades.I have another GTG to do if you want to wait to get started.

Great idea for a thread. Eager to see the results and the following GTG. I did not vote FS on 1,2,7 and 9.

I think 5,6 and 8 have a real solid chance at FS.

5 is my favorite of the group. Looks like a luster bomb. Hopefully a 67FS.
