1964 d quarter

can you guys te me if this a type c or the 65 that was made in 64 please,thanks

The common 64 quarter is 90% silver whereas the 65 quarter has no silver. And 65 made in 64?? The guys will

 

To be a C type, the tail feathers have lines splitting them. Take a look at the 65 and up quarters before they started with the state quarters to compare. And a brief explanation on how the C type came about is back in 1964 the mint was preparing to do away with the silver production of these denominations. In order to do so they had to change the dies by making them into harder metals that could withstand the new harder metals of the non silver clad coins which were harder alloys. In this process of changing over some of the 1964 quarters were made using the newly designed die which had the reverse lines in the feathers. I am no expert but this is knowledge that I have researched and I hope this helps.

 

Some one I am sure the details of a type c rev. It also has to do with the placement of the leaves in relation o the A of America and the arrow tips.

The hub which produced this die was intended solely for clad quarters. This die was used by mistake while the Denver Mint was coining both 1964-D and 1965 quarters. The design is dramatically different when the two coins are compared side by side.

Jaime Hernandez: In 1965 the Mint introduced a new reverse design for the Washington Quarter. The 1965 design displayed sharper details on the leaves of the wreath on the reverse design. This 1965 reverse design is also referred to as a Type C design and is found on most 1965 quarters. Very few 1964 Quarters are known with a Type C design that it makes it a very scarce variety in the Washington Quarter series.
