Can you help me identify this coin?

I have never been a collector of ancients but for kicks I purchased a few of those "ancient Roman uncleaned lots" and found this in one of the lots. Does not seem to fit in with the bulk of the ones I have been able to identify. It's 25mm and weighs 5.8g. Any ideas? looks like a figure wearing a crown with a long tassel hanging from the top.

its a Constantine VII Follis
Sear 1761

and it is struck over a Romanus I Follis, Sear 1760

Any possibility that it is Nicephorus II and not Constantine VII?

 

I don't think so, Nicephorus II's head isn't that long and narrow.


what does the reverse look like?

 

The reverse is even in worse shape. I was just trying to find a good photo to see what it should look like and saw Sear 1783 and it also looked close. here is the reverse for what it's worth. May be a lost cause. Thanks for you help.
