If CRHing feels like work instead of an enjoyable hobby, then I'd rethink your choice of CRHing as a hobby.

Yup. I just went through $150 in CWR Quarters and was cheated with 7 worthless foreign coins, and found no silver, but I was still happy as a clam, wishing I had more rolls to check.

I did find a sweet 1998-D (upgrade) and filled a slot with a Mt Hood-D.

so I got through the 2 boxes of halves I picked up the other day.
    box 1 = skunk
    box 2 = 1 Franklin (61) and 2 40% Not bad.
Also 2 proofs and 16 NIFC. 6 of those were tagged with graffiti, another roll hunter wrote numbers on them with permanent marker. Presumably the number of the box he had gone through. But really, why mark the NIFC? Just cause he didn't like them. Even after a dip it doesn't come of completely.
Ya know, I don't really make a big deal out of marking coins, it is what it is, but why deliberately pick out ones that have a small value and mark them?
    sad.
but on the bright side, found a little silver. : )

ya know I'm going to make an offer. I realize from the start that this is a low offer but some of you just toss your NIFC and proofs back. I will pay $0.55 each, minimum one full roll. I will also pay shipping. Any grade VF or better ( so basically nothing abused but circulated is ok) Maybe that will be incentive enough for the tagger to stop it and sell them to me.
If you have a roll, PM me please, Don't list it here.

    From the last two weeks:

$50 BWR Cents - 2 boxes of solid 2016's from Philly.

$168 CWR Nickels - 43-P, 20 Swiss Rappen dated 1947, and 23 assorted pre-1960 vintage coins in various states of disrepair.

    $100 CWR Dimes - Skunk.

It definitely hasn't been my most productive week for searching, but one of the tellers at my credit union handed me $1.25 in silver quarters last weekend so I'm not complaining.

I've been CRH since February of this year. Love it. It's just when you do 8 boxes of halves and have to dump them all it's lame. Love everything else but dumping. Takes a long time to get rid of 8 boxes. I only do $500 at a time when I dump so that's 8 banks.

2 boxes, 2x 40%. and some metal ID tag. Just numbers on it, not sure what it's for.

Well I am back in the game again CHRing half dollars one box a week. Results from box 1 - one 40%er and one 90%er.

1st box of halves for the week:
    1 90%er and 1 40%er.

Going to only be able to do 5 boxes this week. Will try to hit the teller trays though.

$120 CWR halves from 1 bank with the names of 4 different depositors written on them yielded only 3 NIFC.:(

I've done very few halves lately, but have been finding lots of good nickels... stumbled upon a collection dump of 96 pre-60s in 5 rolls last week which included a 44-P... Same bank also produced the 1917 Buffalo and 1938-D and S Jeffersons. Here are the best of my finds the past week:

Funny, I got back into CRH this past February too... I'm more addicted that I ever thought possible... For me, the hardest part is the dry spells. I'm an eternal optimist though, so that helps me get through the lulls. And the way this month has started has been fantastic!

CRHing results in random re-enforcement like gambling, except with CRHing one risks only a minor amount of money.

Sometimes we "win" by finding what we were searching for, and sometimes we "lose" when we don't find what we were searching for...No doubt it's addicting.

Thank you! I'm on a Nickel roll this month... first 3 days I got no silver, Buffalos, or key dates... since then, it's been non-stop good times! And yesterday I found 17 wheaties (16 CRH, 1 coinstar) in $30, so I'm getting red hot there too!

Actually I have to say I have found more silver from Tellers then in CHRing boxes.

My biggest scores have been through the tellers. I do both box searching and teller hunting.

It's impossible to lose, because the coins you don't want are still worth what you paid for them. I suppose you could lose a little bit if you're shorted in rolls, or shorted at the coin counting machine, or get foreign coins that are unredeemable.

4 banks on my way home from work tonight:

    $241.50 CWR halves = skunk-o-rama! :yack:

1 head teller offered to order me boxes/bags of halves, but I know they're no good in my area because my area is very heavily hunted, so I politely declined.

Then he offered to order me Ikes! Unfortunately, although he said he received $1K worth once, and $300 another time, he said he tried last week and didn't get any. He said the coin vault either has them, or they don't.

He gave me his card, and fell all over himself trying to satisfy me, which was flattering. Maybe I'll try ordering Ikes in a few months.

Another, much older head teller who said they had $230 in the vault was super friendly and reported the person who deposited them over 1 year ago had looked through them. She said she looked through them for silver and found none. She even brought them out and opened a roll so I could see them. She said she's become so used to counting them at the end of her day she might miss them if I bought them, but probably not...she was kidding about missing them. Anyway, I didn't have enough cash, and I don't have an account at her bank, or I would have bought them to help her get rid of them. I'll probably go back tomorrow evening and pick them up. She deserves a break...it's the Christmas season after all
