As 7C, I chose five favorite coins for the year 2016. They are: A sestertius of Gordian III with Sol on reverse, a Parthian Tet of king Orodes II, a Phoenician Stater representing "Yamm" the sea-god, as well as the famous Tet of the Greek owl, in addition to a silver Tet representing the Seleucid Emperor SeleuKos Nicator.
Great job @7Calbrey ! Great selection for 2016. I love bankers marks on the Owls - they show that the Owls have been around!
I'd like to learn a little more about #3 "Phoenician Stater representing "Yamm" the sea-god". Did you post it's size, date, & weight in a previous thread?
The coin is perfectly oval. So I have the length = 20 mm. and the width = 13 mm. Also weight measures 10.25 g. It was struck circa 400-350 BC. The figures on the prow seems to be a standing lion raising its right fore paw and turning its left one behind the back to introduce it between the 2 other paws on which it stands( ridiculous and fun). The nearest attribution is BMC 36a.
Thank you very much for this encouragement. I think I'll be posting another lot of five favorite coins 2016 soon, of course if you don't mind. Cheers..
