I dont collect too much, so I dont have the quantity to choose from most here have. But I like bronze, especially Roman, so here they are in two shots. I am pretty broke now (unless you all start buying lots from me really soon!) so I am sure these will be the last of the year. Too bad as there are some really nice sestertii in some current European auctions.
Maybe your post should be the ones you regret having sold. I could not be a dealer. I get too attached.
No, there are plenty I dont regret selling. I am not attached to silver in any way, nor gold. That leaves me with a more narrow interest than someone like you who has a very broad interest.
Interesting. We have a regular here who only wants silver and another who has 95% gold. We have a guy with a thing for lead tokens and one whose ancients are mostly later than late Romans. I used to collect Ancient Greek and Roman Coins and named my website exactly that. Later I spread out a bit and bought a few things that were neither even specializing in Eastern as far as India for about a year. There was a number of years where just about everything was a denarius of Septimius Severus and Julia Domna. 2016 provided me with three Septimius and one Julia but none will make my top 10 favorites. I must have bought them out of habit. Now I am back to 'coins I like at prices I can afford' (that last part is getting harder) wherever they started out. Will 2017 bring me bullion rounds? Highly unlikely (unless you folks start mailing them to me). What will each of you find irresistible in the new year?
Sweet!! => that's a fantastic plethora of winnas!! ... obviously, the left-facing A-Pius with the Serapis snake reverse is my favourite!! (very cool)
I would be happy with any of those coins Ken, although I have a lot of silver I still get more enjoyment looking at nice big Sestertius's and your Antoninus Pius set are my favorite. You know he has so many affordable Sestertius and As he alone is a good collectible field, I especially like your altar one, I managed to pick up one a while ago after being after one for a while, they are more scarce than people think.
Great selection of bronze there Ken. I've got one Æ28 Dupondius which feels good in the hand - really like these big 'uns.
One may be forgiven for thinking you are a fan of Antoninus Pius? I too favor bronze as well, and those are really very appealing, all! Nice selection.
Nice collection Ken! I like the snake deity reverse, and thanks to @stevex6 for the ID. Saved me some googeling time.
That' a fantastic group!!!! I've alway been attracted to the 'big bronzes' whether modern or ancient---they just have that 'warm' look and always feel great in hand!!! Big silver is kinda cool too
Omg, you have some awesome coins, both pictured above, and at your store. The Pegasus, at your store needs to come play at my house for awhile. Maybe sometime in the future.
