Soon I will free this nice Antoninus Pius sestertius from its temporary plastic tomb. I want to get my hands on it! I'll post pics.
It looks like a beautiful coin @Ken Dorney. But being a dealer, and if you plan to resell, wouldn't it fetch more in plastic? If you plan on keeping her, then by all means free that baby.
Of course I thought of selling it. But, I like the color, the centering, the surfaces, etc. Just too attractive for me to pass on!
A few glasses of wine and I had enough courage to free my coin. Possibly not the best thing to do while under the influence and with a hammer and chisel in my inexperienced hands, but here are the results. I am very happy. Now in its velvet home in an Abafil tray: Not crazy enough to attempt a photo of the utensils in my hand!
Eye appeal+. Well chiseled but I'd probably visit Home Depot and look for a C clamp. Be sure to allow enough space for the cloth if you wrap it.
One look at that wonderful sestertius and my love of 'big bronzes' needs no explanation!!! Who could ever resist holding that terrific coin in their hands!!
The coin looks so much better in the 'after' picture than the 'before' ones. I'm glad to see it's now free.
I dont know, yours is quite nice! Is there any point in saving the NGC tag (It's my only break out so far)?
