2016 Favorite Purchase

The ancients guys are doing top 10 favorite purchases of 2016, but I thought maybe everyone would like to do something like that. Only you can only post one coin. Your most favorite coin or currency or token purchase of 2016. Maybe I should say your most favorite numismatic purchase of 2016. US, world, ancient doesnt matter. But you can only post ONE, your absolute favorite of 2016. Yes I am forcing you to choose.


So I will start. It wasnt my most expensive or my cheapest, but it is significant in a way that reminds me of where I started in numismatics, and also shows how far I have come. This one I did a GTG on and the photos sucked. I think the pics are much better this time around, atleast for my abilities.




It's a woody, it's undergraded in my opinion, and its a 1916 (my favorite year of wheat). What's not to love about it?

Took a number of years to get it but I think it was worth the wait.

It's a PCGS MS-62, S-3 with an Eagle Eye sticker.
Yes, MS, not PF.
The S-3 is considered a business strike.

Hard to pick a favorite from this years pickups. But as far as U.S. goes it would be this one.

 

well, not fav item but definitely my fav purchase of 2016. been wanting to add a confederate note to my collection for many, many years and saw this one at a small local show. wanted one in decent condition but still told a mysterious story thru its wear an tear. one that would make you wonder....with unanswerable questions...

 

Since this is more of a modern coin area of the board. My top modern for the year is Napoleon.
