Anybody else always buying up Trade Dollars like a madman?

@Mainebill is a big Trade Dollar guy. He's been kinda quiet lately though.

 

Right on with that one. If a collector isn't buying slabbed ones, they probably have at least a 50% fake collection. Some of the most recent Chinese fakes are so good that they fool even experienced people.

Thank you,when I saw it on eBay I knew it was the one. Has the perfect toned look IMO for a trade dollar as they tend to tone funky.

 

Speaking of Mainebill, anybody got a clue where he is? He hasn't signed on since Aug.8.

I've been trying to do a proof set of trade dollars for the last twenty years and still have a long way to go. I'm not thinking that I will ever be able to afford the '84 or '85 though. I'd post images of them, but I know you are all really tired of seeing nicely toned proof trade dollars.

 

I'll look at them every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

 

Here's my toned trade dollar. It's not proof, obviously, but it'll do.

This is the only one that I have on my phone, but I'll post a couple more when I get to my computer. It's a PCGS PR-64, I agree with the grade, but the reverse is just booming, 66+ quality.

 

I only have one, but I'm pretty big. Does that count?

Now, that is what I call a Trade Dollar! Definitely not one of those dubious origin, or hopelessly polished to death train wreck specimens.
