i've been looking for these since i saw the post about them, and i finally got one at the 7-11 store! pretty neat looking i think! are these worth anything? for those of you who don't know about bar nickels, look at the 0 in 1960. see that bar on top?
I've been collecting these since about 1960. With the various doubled elements on them and the numerous chips above the various parts of the date/ legend, there may be hundreds of types. But, hey, I didn't start collecting them to get rich so it doesn't really matter if there may be only two collectors left. I've not only got a collection of about 140 different but I've searched BU rolls for them and some are pretty remarkable specimens. Maybe there will even be some Full Step coins in there. It's a fun set but these aren't seen as often as they once were and the BU rolls cost real money now days. I used to be able to get the rolls at face and just dump it in circulation with most of the bar dates and all.
Frank Spadone used to write books on errors in the 1960's and early 1970's. He always listed these and assigned a premium to them. They are neat, but today there is no premium on them.
