I went to pet store and the cashier had just opened a roll of dimes, there was nothing but mercurys and silver roosevelts in the roll!! I was so jealous.
dang, i would have told them i was a coin collector and i'd buy those dimes! i couldn't stand seeing those going out into the public!:goofer:
OUCH! That DOES hurt. Did the cashier at least have the sense to keep them? That would soften the blow somewhat.
He knew what they were after he opened them, "silver eisenhower dimes" lol. I told him they were worth about a dollar each, a buck fifty for the mercs. I didn't buy them though, they seemed to be collected in the 50's, so there's not going to be a 16d in them, also as a lot of non-collectors think "if it;s old your going to be rich", so he would of wanted too much for them. (even if I wanted them I only had a $1.06 in my pocket for a dozen crikets to feed my leopard geckos )
you are right hamman88. a lot of non collectors DO think coins that are old means they are worth a fortune. found this out at many yard sales and garage sales. they tend to think you are trying to rip 'em off! grizz
They may not be valuable, but I just watched a friend cash in $6.25 face value in silver for $60 cash. It's worth saving them for the bullion if nothing else. Guy~
True, but right know I only have $80. Once my auctions end and my surfboard sale goes through, then I'll have plenty. (yes, I'm selling my surfboard to buy coins, im such a nerd lol)
Well, there comes a time when we all trade in the board for something else. It's a good trade in my opinion....of course, easy for me to say as I live in the desert. Guy~
You didn't ask to buy them??? I've asked for coins out of the register that i have seen. The cashier in the cafeteria at my work is now pulling all the d-mint quarters she finds out for me since i am missing all D's in my album.
