I like the strike on this coin, but it's had an old cleaning and retoned. AU55.

Catbert, that coin looks familiar. Is this a recent acquisition?

I need an 1848-O so I may have seen it.

I absolutely love Seated Coins. One day I even hope to own a few of them which are not quite worn! Here's what I have Rome_Antoninus-Pius_As_Britannia-rev_both_0800.jpg

Wow an 1840 Seated dollar! Very nice. I bet someone saved it as a pocket piece as it's seen only very light circulation.
Actually if you could re-engrave the date to 1839 the price would go way up: particularly as not a restrike.

it's in an PCGS OGH so it's been slabbed for a while. Yeah, they don't appear very often. I have it as purchased in a private sale, so not sure where it came from. I've had it for about 10 years, I collect the date. If it was ebay, my records usually say so, so it may have been from a dealer I checked in with often.... I've owned if for a few years. XF45 w CAC sticker. Sent it to CAC myself in 2006 or so.

Sorry but I'm lacking in the Seated category, but I do have a worn one.

The 1842 dollar arrived. It resembles Gerry's photos more so than the Trueviews. I like the original look, particularly on the reverse.

    I couldn't pass up this raw 1869-S half dollar. I'm hoping it will grade at AU50. 1869-S WB-2 AU50 both sides.jpg

It arrived yesterday enabling me to examine its luster in-hand. It's at least AU50, with nice luster on the reverse. Surfaces look great with no major marks. Strike could be better on the upper obverse, but who's quibbling?

Here's my other golden gray coin that arrived this week. It's been a good week.

Haha, it would become a rare re-engraved 1839/40 dollar. I was watching for an 1840 $ for a long time to fit in my 1840 yr/mint set. One of the longest waits. I've been ignoring the half dimes. Maybe that's part of the reason they dropped them - easy to ignore, nickels are so much easier to deal with.
