Hello everyone! Hope all is well.
Here is today's coin themed thread. It's called "Silly Spending Sunday!".
Please post a coin that you purchased that was either a lot less or more than you should have.
The only coin that I feel that I bought for a really good deal is my 1694 William & Mary- Unbarred error. I paid $50 US dollars. It's worth a lot more.

It would be this. A retired buddy of mine has been liquidating his collection (to me mostly) and I have offered as much as two Benjamins for it. He is till waffling. It is counterfeit of course, but I would hate to see it get into the wrong hands. And I have something of a penchant for well done contemporary counterfeits.

Silly or not silly, not sure. I spent too much for this in a PCGS UNC Details - Cleaned holder, but after going through every image of these I could find, I was convinced that they mistook die polish for cleaning. It had the stink of the Cook Collection on it which probably influenced their grade - 25-30% of his collection submitted to HA and PCGS came back cleaned. He amassed probably the most complete collection of Canadian coins ever, but he was a clown and ruined a bunch of coins. I ultimately submitted it to ANACS, they conserved it and removed lacquer, and gave it a straight SP grade. So now it's probably worth way more than I paid for it. My silly / not silly story.

I'd have to say that I paid about $150 too much on this coin because I am enamoured with the obverse toning.

This one I got for a lot less than retail. Not sure if dealer was just wanting to move it along or what. I can't imagine Matron Head cents are really that popular. Not compared to Braided Hair cents anyway.
