Hello, Meow just made a post about some W quarters Meow found CRH. Meow has not been posting much lately due to various reasons. Meow just remembered about a very lucky day Meow had a few months ago and thought Meow would share that now. Meow went to the bank looking for rolls of new quarters to stash into Cat Hoard. As Meow no longer acquires rolls to CRH. Meow still has 100s of random rolls stashed to be getting to CRH very soon. But anyway. As Meow is standing in line Meow notices that the next teller over is piling up a small stack of half dollars on their counter. Now Meow rarely sees half dollars and half dollars are not regularly available at banks in Meows area. So Meow asks can Meow have those? And they say yes. Got any more half dollars? They say no. So OK Meow will take what Meow can get. And this is what Meow got. Very, very cool pawful of coins Meow feels lucky to have been able to acquire. 20241116_195626[1].jpg 20241116_195710[1].jpg

Actually one was a 1996. The rest are silver. Most incredible lucky feat for Meow. The best ever CRH prey.

That 1923-S!!! If it's in the condition it appears, it might be getting close to a four-figure coin!

That one has a very nicely aged color to it compared to the others.

That is in at least XF condition, assuming there isn't something that will get it details. And Numismedia currently puts that coin at $990 in XF40.

At the very least, please get it into a flip. It would be a shame if it sustained any claw marks...

Wow, really? XF? Its kinda worn, all the stripes on Liberty's gown are worn and flat. But OK, Thanks. Meow did not think they had value besides looking cool. Maybe Meow should grade it? As Meow never had a coin that was ever worthy to grade. Meow graded some comic books just for fun last year. But really, thanks for looking out for ignorant Cats.

The early Walkers were usually weakly struck, and so were later years at the SF Mint. The 1923-S is extremely hard to find well-struck.

Meow will get some Whitman holders for them. Meow likes those the best. They have a simple design that does not detract from the coin

It seems that grading services require member ship fees. That makes it hard as Meow only has the one coin worth grading. Meow will ask an acquaintance if they know someone who has done it before.

If you are in an area with a trusted person who is pretty much in the business, they might be willing to carry yours in with one of their submissions. If not, sometimes if you don't plan on wanting to sell the coin later on, you can find 4 others that you think are worth grading and go to a major show. In the past they haven't always required a membership to get coins graded there. Can't say for sure as I haven't been to a big show in 5 years and haven't put anything in for grading in the past ten.... but yeah, you would need a minimum submission for a coin show which I think might be five coins. One thing I did was keep a separate area for coins I thought might be worth grading at some point. So far I still probably have about 10 of those coins but don't feel any is worth doing without one or two really good ones, but they are there to carry a submission should I ever get one that I think is worth the effort again.
