This was touched on in another thread some where but I'd like to get some feedback on it!! There were (5) Presidents that were SINGLE for their whole term. IE: Jefferson;Jackson;Van Buren;Buchanan and Arthur! Other than Jefferson and Jackson no one was of great note but would there be any interest in a NO SPOUSE collection of the 5?? It would be cheaper than trying to collect the whole set.
Other than the possible Jefferson substitute spouse , do not think I will collect any of the other coins. I would like to get a few of these if i can beat HSN and The Coin Vault people to them. Just to much money to collect the entire series for me , not to mention the storage. From what I have read, the Jefferson spouce, the flowing hair design , will be smoking Will be interesting to see what kind of collector base developers for the entire series. Gosh though there were 4 presidential substitute spouse coins. Think maybe I need to go back and read up a bit more.
spouse gold nobody in love with the president spouse except the liberty head. everybody just love liberty.
The Jefferson spouse coin is not a flowing hair design, it is a draped bust design based in the half cent. I am kind of disappointed with the next two Libertys. They chose to use the Libety from the Coronet quarter and half eagles. Now I don't mind that they chose the Coronet for one of them but why did they have to do it for doth? The design on the two coins is are almost identical. They could have just as easily chosen a completely different Liberty for the second coin. Then the five non-spouse coins could have shown four different Libertys and some woman, instead of three different and some woman. (This is assuming they don't chose another Coronet Liberty for the fourh coin.)
