Hello all, I have recently gotten into collecting coins and I really don't know much about it yet so I was wondering if somebody might be able to help me out here. I came accross a set of well cared for and cataloged lincoln head pennies (I think a couple are fine, the others probably very good) that caught my atention. They are from the late 1960's and early 1970's, but five or six of them appear to have some errors. The reversed sides are, well, reversed. The image on the back is backwards - kind of like a mirror image of what it should be. Does anybody know anything about an error like this? Should I go ahead a buy them or do you guys think it's a waste of time? Thanks so much!!
chriscraft: !0 Welcome to the forum. 2) Most likely, (about 100 to 1 odds) you will find hammer jobs. Place a coin on a hard surface put another on top and hit hard with a hammer. You will find the top coin's impression into the bottom, and visa versa. That said they could (emphasis on the word could) be reverse brockages. Without seeing them, or a clear picture at least, it would be impossible to say. Mike Diamond is our error expert, and he will probably be around in a while, if you could post pictures it would be the best way to tell.
There is one on another thread, I'll they to find the coin. (Unless you mean the book, that is easier.).
Twiggs: I agree with Jody, too often we go all out to help a 'newbie' and we never hear from them again. Lets see if Chris responds before we do the work.
I agree with Frank. There are a lot of "hit and run" posters. I also agree on Frank's assesment of the coins.
