2002 - 2006 sac and kennedy not intended for general circulation. and kennedy even continue for collectors only.

That's something a lot of people don't realize, that the minting of Kennedy halves has dropped to the point that the 1970D is no longer the rarest issue. Demand for these has never been high, and the Mint is steadily decreasing how many they mint. 2007 may be even lower.

I have a complete collection of business strikes of these; right after Lincoln cents, it is one of the first coins I've collected by series. I don't go out of my way to get proofs (have some that incidentally came with proof sets I own) and SMSs and such though.

There's no knowing yet if this will even be the rarest issue; 2007 might be even rarer. (Referring to just business strikes and not SMS, matte finish, proofs, etc. Though some business strikes were never intended to actually circulate.) However rarity alone isn't enough to guarantee a significant increase; the keys for this series used to be the 1970D, 1987P, and 1987D, but the fact you could only get them in mint sets means that they are not hard to find in high condition. The Mint hasn't released any Kennedy halves for general circulation since 2001 and are only minted for sake of collectors now. Whatever potential newer issues have for a significant increase in value, it is something that won't be realized for at least a generation or two unless collector interest spike significantly. As someone has posted here before, a mintage of two is still too high if only one person wants one lol... it's not the rarity that causes a coin to be valuable, it's the rarity relative to its demand.

is there many coin collectors in canada?. why is it the royal mint of canada issued coins with very low mintage as compared to u.s.a.?. is it few people care to buy them?. are the canadian also buy a lot of u.s. coins?.

Because inevitably people spend them. I find proofs, 1987, 2002-2006, commemoratives, etc... in circulation.

To date, I have also found 1912D Barber Half in XF condition, 1960 Franklin Proof, Two 1964 Proof, 1965 SMS and 1967 SMS.

It's definitely sweet when you find them in circulation and only paid face value for them.

One box I got had just 2 silvers and one clad. The other was great. Even got some walker half dollars and a commerative one. It would be great if they circulated. I dont have enough wrappers so I may cash 30 dollars in at work and hand them out at my register.

    question to ask

since quarter is consider cu-nickel clad copper. content 88% copper and 12% nickel. or the outer layer is 75% copper and 12% nickel. inner layer is 100% copper.

now my question is about kennedy half dollar dated 1965 to 1970. it content 40% silver and 60% coppper. is it mixed by two metal or there is also a outer layer contend 90% silver and 10% copper. and the inner layer is 100% copper?. anyone?. thanks.

Elaine do you still not have a Red Book ?

40% halves were outer layers of .800 silver and .200 copper bonded to an inner core of .209 silver and .791 copper.

They are 40% silver. 40% of the total weight is silver - 60% is copper.

Yes the new dollar coins are clad coin. They have a pure copper core and the outer clad layer is manganese brass - .770 copper, .120 zinc, .070 manganese, and .040 nickel.
