I have a remark all right, but this is a family friendly forum.

Generally, I'm not interested these coins, but this one is really, really interesting (especially the obverse). If you keep up posting these kind of coins, I might find myself interested. Congratulations.

Thanks guys....sorry about not giving more detailed info on these Kadambas/ I am really into Medieval Indian coinage/ so figured everyone knew. The period after the fall of the Guptas to the Islamic invasions later in 11th Century/ was a chaotic time with many Hindu kingdoms fighting it out for territory. Eventually, by 1400AD/ only the Vijayanagar Empire remained Hindu/ the rest of India was now under Dehli Sultanate control.

That obverse was so appealing, I looked up to see who Sri Hanuman was...turns out he was a monkey! Very interesting coin:happy:

I thought it was a monkey too! That is why I wanted Bing to comment. I remember posting Visigothic tremissis of Tulgan/Egica who resembled "Bozo" the clown, "Kool Aid Man":wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed::wideyed:

Awesome coin, Panzerdawg ... congrats on another amazing goldie!!

Ummm, but am I missing something? (the way you insinuated that Bing might have something to say about the reverse, I merely assumed that it'd be something pornographic?!) ... well, because we all know that Bing is a bit off, right?

    ;)

=> anyway ... is this the correct ID for the obverse guy? (Sri Hanuman)

Oh, or were you insinuating that Bing might like dudes in speedos and tassles? (yah again, I didn't get your inuendo)

Sorry, nothing from the Kadambas in my collection, but I do have a nice depiction of Hanuman on a ramatanka (Hindu temple token):

That's pretty neat, though, I must admit.
