I mainly deal with coins but sometimes I do collect notes from certain areas. I came across these in a huge lot I purchased and was wondering do notes get counter stamped often like coins. these were the only examples I've ever seen. please feel free to show others if you have. chris
It really depends on what you collect and from what country the currency is from I collect and deal Military Payment Certificates mostly from the mid 40,s to the late 70,s and from time to time you will find a note stamped as "Evidence" but these notes are counterfeits so probably not the same thing.
wow pretty cool. I have a lot of military payment certs from Germany USA and the UK but never saw evidence. would you mind posting?
Very Very interesting . Some are stamped with a jewish star of david and a swastika. If you could translate some of the words it may give you some insight.
That's some wild stuff, Kinda creepy to me. I think the stamping is modern. Just a gimmick to catch your attention.
I have seen them but i dont have any in my collection, as i only collect investment quality examples such as this Series 681 $10 in PCGS 69PPQ the one and only in existence also heres another Series 661 $20 in PCGS 68PPQ also the only one
I think most, if not all, of those stamps are modern. I see notes with those stamps on them all the time. I think it's just a way to bring more money into fairly common notes. I mean what use would the SS have stamping their logo on their own money?
These counterstamped WWII era notes are all the rage on eBay right now. Someone is taking old notes and rubber stamping them with modern but period appearing stamps to give them some "extra" value. The giveaways are the death's head logo and "Waffen SS" stamped on the notes - they were not so stamped contemporaneously.
Simply showing the original poster that i do not collect blemished notes or ones that have distractions on them rather investment grade ones and simply gave him some examples sorry if that some how annoys you but i really dont care
The only legitimate counter stamp in the OP is the left one on the note from Bohemia and Moravia. The rest are modern fantasies as others have pointed out.
