what percentage of the members here want to pay a fair price for collectible coins does that mean that they have no interest in collecting

ct has 40,000 members do you think 2000-4000 participate daily

You're right... but it is, most unfortunately, not so simple. I've personally found, not only here but in real life as well, that most who show no curiosity or real interest in the coin, and care only about the potential value, are not likely to become collectors or actively participate in the hobby. Think @Sheila Ruley vs. all those who've popped in thinking they've a fortune only to forever disappear when told otherwise.

well you guys are just making stuff up now.

On the other hand I just got a brand new roll of quarters from the bank.
It has George Washington on it.

This *MUST* be an error on the Mint's part so they *must* be worth thousands of dollars each. And one looks like it has glue .. I mean something wrong with the metal so another mint error worth even tens of thousands of dollars !!

You guys are hilarious!!! Sad, but true about new posters thinking they have found something special. I did that at first, but then curiosity got me. Then I was addicted and wanted to know more. Now I know most errors are pretty common and the really good ones are very rare. The search is always exciting.

Are these questions, or statements ? I guess it doesn't matter either way.

This is what good can come out of some of the "stupid" questions. Yes, many people only ask wanting to know if they found something very valuable, but if we respond with a "not yet, but keep looking!" instead of a "you idiot, go away", don't you think it would be better for the hobby?

I Think it is rude when a new poster is offended when you answer their question and then they respond with "well, it's an error to me" and I will just sell it to an uneducated collector. Why even ask the question if they are not satisfied with the answer and then have the nerve to be mean?!

Yes, but you never asked "How much is this worth because I've never seen one like it even though 200 billion were struck.";);););););) You've searched for knowledge. Many of the others don't care about that. Does anyone remember the 50's/60's song......."First I Look At The Purse"?

And, just how many times has anyone said in direct response, "You idiot, go away!"

So, who is the one exaggerating now?

Sure, I was exaggerating. But you called them dummies in post 6. Just not to their face. :)

So, you don't believe that there are any dummies on eBay? And, when I say that, I mean both sellers and buyers. I wouldn't want you to misunderstand.

It's happened a few times, sure, but what I think some fail to realize or understand is that in such cases, there's often a history with the individual. Remember coinattichunter69 (or whatever), the guy with piles of 69-S DDOs? There was always one or two who would cry in each of his threads about the big meanies, yet never bothered to look into his posting history to see who the idiot really was. It's the same with silversearcher; how many tears have been shed over the "poor child just sharing his hobby"? Of course most of these people haven't bothered to actually watch his videos, learn of his history, or seemingly care about the people he may be misleading. Forget facts, reality, or truth because emotions are the only thing that matters anymore.

I suspect some of these are running a "test" to see if they can have any luck in running a fake through eBay.
