While going through my disorganized boxes today I came across this 8 reales cob from Potosi, 1719, assayer Y. While there is very little wear, it does have the typically very crude flan and dies of this period, really little better than a silver ingot.

Potosi, 8 reales, Philip V, (1)719 Y. Rare. Two dates.

I think we can safely move onto 1717 now. This GB farthing may not look much, but anyone who collects GB farthings will tell you this is one of the trickiest dates to acquire:

And this threepence, just because it is a handsome coin:

    Rothenburg an der Tauber
    AV Dukat 1717 (Chronogram Date)

During the Thirty Years War 1618-48 a strange thing happened. Catholic Imperial Army under Bavarian Johann Tsceclaes Count von Tilly had defeated the Swedish Protestant Army defending Rothenburg. Tilly demanded a unconditional surrender of City. His soldiers could then have a ball pillaging and looting......
The Burgermeister offered Tilly a bet/ that if he could drink a wack of ale and remain standing without passing out/ that the City would be spared. The Mayor won his bet/ the Catholicc General honored his deal/ thus it was the only City in Germany spared destruction in that War. Today Rothenburg is a major tourist attraction/ thanks too the Mayor and the Count. Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany (1).jpg 0d34a0588dc5fff22ec6fcd943b491b8 (1).jpg

Sweden, Charles XII, 1//2 dalder SM copper plate money, Avesta, 1716. From Roma Numismatics E-Sale 93, lot 1702.
    KM-PM32; AAH-195; BT-D2.
    371.51 grams

This example is very small for copper plate money, which ranges up to 10 dalders and weighing 20 kilograms or 44 pounds. Try carrying that around as spare change.
