At the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY

    Last week we were in NY and of course I had to visit the MMA :)

    They certainly have outstanding works of art, and it was a delight to walk through the Roman, Greek and Egyptian rooms; however, they have very few coins in exhibition. They are very beautiful but it was sort of disappointing seeing so few, don't you think so?

    This is all they are showing:

    Yes, especially since so many coins are de facto artistic masterpieces! :singing:

    I bet they have a ton of them in storage!...:jawdrop::inpain::nailbiting:

    If you're ever in LA check out the Getty Museum in Malibu. The have an amazing exhibit of ancient coinage.

    Yup, I was going from case to case saying "I have one like that"

    The two dekadrachms are from dies signed Kimon and Euainetos. They are the Holy Grail of any ancient coins collection.
