Poke around on the PCGS site. You'll find the story of a collector who submitted a complete set of $2.50 gold Indians. Each and every one was counterfeit.
I thought I would resurrect this thread to show my first and only old gold. I've always wanted an Indian Head Gold. The 2.50 was about all my budget could handle. I was also very very fortunate that Bill Jones was able to check this one out for me before I purchased it. I'm very happy to have this in my collection.
I picked up a raw set of Indians, 2.5, 5 and 10 a few years back. Is there a good source to show counterfeits and how to tell the difference?
Best thing to do is start a new thread and post some pictures. There are quite a few good eyes on this series that will help you out @Whipps
I know someone who purchased 2 $2.5 gold indians from great southern coins raw. Should be be worried about their authenticity, considering where he got them ? I know that they are often faked.
GSC is known to sell cleaned and damaged coins. I'm not saying all are this but its not a good gambling game with them. But from my understanding their return policy is pretty easy.
nice coins. where are the first 3 coin from country wise ? I wanna look them up in my Krause catalogs. thanks.
Beautiful coins, all, but I can't remember ever seeing an ugly gold coin. lol Even gold with pic of Danny Trejo would be pretty. Well... ok maybe not.
I posted this in another thread, but it is old gold. My most recent Indian purchase. The tribe is coming together.
There's two older gold pieces that I like. The first is the French 10 Franc Angel. My wife gave me one when I left for Viet Nam and I've carried it in my wallet since then. The second is the English Gold Sovereign, with Saint George slaying the Dragon, I like the design and have several of them.
