Nice coins all.
Though I specialize in Siliquae, coins of the Justinian dynasty have a special place in my heart. The 6th century was the end of Late Antiquity, a damn shame in my opinion.

 

@ValiantKnight Has some knowledge of Mental health. Can you give us a clue to what Emperor Justin II was suffering from?

 

Well, for a solid evaluation, Justin II would need to come into a clinician's office for a diagnostic interview, but since he's been dead for about 1500 years I don't see that happening anytime soon

I'm years from being a full-fledged mental health professional, but to me Justin definitely seems to have had something on the schizophrenia spectrum. Delusional disorder can safely be ruled out, since his functioning was clearly seriously impaired and behavior wasn't normal. Basically it all boils down to how often he had experienced the different kinds of associated symptoms and whether or not he had accompanying mood episodes (manic/depressive). If his overall disturbance lasted less than a month it was probably brief psychotic disorder. Between a month and 6 months, schizophreniform disorder. At least 6 or more, then it could have been schizophrenia. If he did also have manic or depressive episodes, then probably schizoaffective disorder. Since his moments where he was in some sort of functioning state were rare and brief, I'd go with either schizophreniform disorder or schizophrenia.
